Growth Plan and Greenbelt Plan

Malone Given Parsons was retained by BILD to analyze the Province’s proposed amendment to the plan.

Among the tasks, Malone Given Parsons conducted extensive technical work to produce a detailed analysis of Greenfield lands in the GTA in Halton Region, Peel Region, York Region, Durham Region and the City of Hamilton, complete with GIS mapping of committed and vacant Designated Greenfield for both Community Areas and Employment Areas.

Working collaboratively with each of the Regions and Municipalities, the land base data is actively being verified and provides the basis for forecasted scenarios associated with achieving the newly proposed higher density targets and intensification rates. Furthermore, the land base data and mapping provides the framework for illustrating the relationship between increased density and intensification targets, resulting in unit mixes, increased land requirements for community uses and the disconnect between planned and proposed transit infrastructure as it relates to higher density Greenfield development.
