MGP Today

Take a trip back in time to 1978, back to the inception of MGP.

2015 - Lauren Capilongo, Mark Chemij, Emily Grant, Lincoln Lo, and Rick Schippling become Associates.

2011 - A-Factor makes first (and likely last) appearance.

MGP’s in-house rock quartet includes Bobby Harris, Graham Pascoe, John Genest, and Steve Vassos.  The guys entertained MGP staff and guests in December 2011 in what may prove to be their only live show.  Fortunately, they can still fall back on their day jobs at MGP.

2011 - MGP opens Kuwait project office.

While MGP had carried out planning and economic development assignments in the Middle East since 2001, it was in January 2011 that MGP committed professionals to reside in the Region full-time.  Since then, MGP has delivered major master plans that together cover about 30% of Kuwait’s land area and accommodate over 2 million people and 1 million jobs.

2010 - Matthew Cory, Christina Heydorn, and Joan MacIntyre become Principals.

MGP’s complement of Principals grows by three professionals with experience in planning, design, and land economics.

2003 - MGP celebrates its 25th Anniversary.

MGP celebrated its 25 years in business in style.  The 1970s themed-party provided a special opportunity to reconnect  former staff and business associates, to reminisce, and to celebrate professional and corporate accomplishments.

2001 - The best company Christmas party ever!

Whatever the holiday, you can find an MGP professional ready to organize an activity and MANY professionals ready to participate.  This event, which included a bus trip, dinner and entertainment in Niagara, was a particular hit … one that every Christmas Party Committee since has been trying to live up to!

2000 - John Genest and Mimi Ward become Principals.

Both of these Principals started their careers as Junior Planners at MGP.  With training and guidance from senior planners and economists, they developed the skills and gained the experience necessary to lead assignments and develop the next generation of professionals.

1995 - MGP moves to its present location in Markham, Ontario.

MGP outgrows its original office and relocates to a spacious new home in the growing 905 region.

1988 - Subsidiary company MGPInfo is established.

MGPInfo provides GIS software, training and expertise to both domestic and international clients.

1986 - Jim Kirk becomes a Principal.

1982 - Subsidiary company Sabourin Kimble & Associates Ltd. is established.

1978 - Malone Given Parsons Ltd. is established.

Howie Malone, Don Given, Lee Parsons and John Boake are the founding partners of what will eventually become one of the largest planning consulting firms in Canada.
